What should I bring to my first appointment?

Yes, we're actively welcoming new patients. We see patients from throughout Oceanside and surrounding communities including Vista and San Marcos. You can request an appointment by phone or through our contact form, and we'll get you on the schedule.
What insurance plans do you accept?
We accept a wide range of major plans, including Aetna, Aflac, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Careington, Cigna, First Dental Health, MetLife, United Concordia, and UnitedHealthcare. Visit our Insurance & Financing page for full details, or call us and we'll help verify your benefits before your visit.

Do you offer same-day or emergency appointments?

Treatment & Services
What dental services do you offer in-house?
Ivy Ranch Dental offers a broad range of services under one roof, from routine cleanings and exams to dental implants, root canals, cosmetic treatments, clear aligners, oral surgery, and sedation dentistry. Dr. Omid Mehdipour's advanced GPR training allows him to handle many complex cases in-house that most general practices refer out.
Will I need a referral for complex procedures like implants or root canals?
In most cases, no. Dr. Mehdipour has advanced training in implant dentistry, endodontics, and prosthodontics, which means we can treat many complex cases right here without sending you elsewhere. We'll always be upfront if a referral is ever truly in your best interest.
Do you offer sedation for anxious patients?
Yes. We offer nitrous oxide sedation to help patients feel calm during treatment. Our team is also experienced in working with patients who have dental anxiety; we go at your pace, explain everything as we go, and never rush you. Learn more on our Sedation Dentistry page.
Costs, Insurance & Financing
How do I know what my insurance covers?
The best way is to call us before your appointment; our team can help verify your benefits and give you a clear picture of what your plan covers. You can also visit our Insurance & Financing page for a list of accepted plans and general guidance on how dental insurance typically works.
Do you offer payment plans or financing options?
Yes. We believe cost shouldn't stand between you and the care you need. Financing options are available to help spread treatment costs into manageable payments. Ask our front desk team for details or visit our Patient Information hub for more resources.
Will I receive a cost estimate before treatment begins?
Always. We present a clear treatment plan with associated costs before any work begins, no surprises, no pressure. You'll have the full picture so you can make informed decisions about your care on your own timeline.
Dental Anxiety
I haven't been to the dentist in years. Will I be judged?
Not even a little. We hear this concern often, and our answer is always the same: what matters is that you're here now. Our team approaches every patient with genuine warmth and zero judgment, regardless of how long it's been or what condition your teeth are in. You don't need to explain yourself, just show up, and we'll take it from there.
What do you do to help patients who are nervous or fearful?
We take dental anxiety seriously and have built our practice around making nervous patients feel safe. We offer nitrous oxide sedation, headphones and music during treatment, honest communication throughout every step, and a pace guided entirely by your comfort. Many patients who came in dreading the chair leave telling us it was nothing like they expected.
Still Have Questions?
Every patient's situation is a little different. If something isn't answered here, reach out, we're happy to talk through anything before you book, and there's never any pressure to commit.
